Zoom Expectations:
- Come prepared - Paper/notebook and pencil/pen
- You learn math by doing math.
- Cameras on please - in order to best serve you as your teacher- focus mode ensures that only I see you and the other students do not see you.
Why?
- Non-verbal cues:
Seeing your faces allows me (your teacher) to read important non-verbal cues like confusion, interest, or agreement, allowing for adjustments in teaching approach in real-time. - Social connection:
Visual interaction helps to build rapport and a sense of community between teacher and students, which can be crucial in a virtual environment. - Increased engagement:
When you are aware of being seen, you are more likely to stay focused and actively participate in the lesson. - No distractions- please do not play games or be on your phone- it is super important that you are paying attention
- Ask questions and participate- it’s not an all or nothing- you have some gaps you need to fill in your knowledge of math and asking questions is the best way to fill those gaps.
- Attendance is based on participation. I will randomly ask for students to use the chat or fill out a poll and if you are not participating, I can not give you attendance.
- Some of you are here because you need the support so you can be in the program. I want you all to be part of the program. I don’t want anyone to get dropped.
Be on Time. If you are late, you will be marked tardy and I will add the time you popped into the attendance spreadsheet.
