Dr Tonatiuh (Tony) R. Signoret became the interim Superintendent of Schools in July of 2023 and PSUSD’s Superintendent of Schools in January of this year. He earned his Master’s degree in Educational Administration from Chapman University in 1996, and his doctoral degree in Organizational Leadership from the University of La Verne in 2011. 

With 34 years of experience as an educator, Dr. Signoret began Palm Springs Unified career in 1992 as a bilingual teacher at Agua Caliente Elementary School. Over the next 19 years, he served as a Site Coordinator at the elementary level, Assistant Principal, and Principal at the elementary and secondary levels. In July 2011, Dr. Signoret was appointed as the Director of Certificated Human Resources.  Four years later he was selected to serve as the Assistant Superintendent of Personnel Services in Desert Sands Unified School District. In November 2017, he returned to Palm Springs USD as the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources where he became a member of the Executive Cabinet and was instrumental in all district-wide decision-making processes. He was also recognized as the ACSA Region XIX Personnel/Human Resources Administrator of the year.

Dr. Signoret and his family are long-time Palm Springs residents. Parents to 10 children, Dr. Signoret and his wife, Silvia, adopted eight children, the youngest of whom is two years old. All of the Signoret children graduated from,  are currently attending, or will be attending, PSUSD schools.

Dr. Signoret’s accomplishments are extensive. He is a knowledgeable, skillful, and experienced leader. His wisdom and fairness have allowed him to maintain the relationships, a high standard of student and employee conduct, and the respect of colleagues, parents and community members. A favorite part of his job as Superintendent, Dr. Signoret is highly visible on our school campuses for both scheduled site visits to meet with administrators and observe classroom instruction and as a guest at school programs and events.
