District Arts Office Artist in Residence - Larry Ashton - Bubbling Wells Elementary Pilot Program 2021 - 2022
Larry Ashton studied at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena and received his BFA in illustration from Parson’s School of Design in New York. He worked as a freelance editorial illustrator and has been published in many national magazines and newspapers, including the New York Times and the Los Angeles Times. He has shown his illustrations, paintings and photographs in Los Angeles, New Orleans and San Diego. He has been teaching art to elementary school students since 2002. Larry is an advocate of the arts as an integral part of children’s education. Art puts the STEAM into STEM! He started teaching because he wanted to share his knowledge of the visual arts with the next generation, but believes he gets back more than he gives by being constantly inspired by the fearless imaginative works of art that children create! His motto is that looking at art, talking about art, and making art with kids is a win-win for all.
